I  can imagine the excitement they felt when the got their tickets.  The anticipation they felt when they were let into the theatre.  Many of them probably purchased their tickets in advance, waiting hours in a line going out the door and around the block.  Some of them probably waited in that line for an entire day!  The Dark Knight's swan song in the only Batman trilogy in film history.  Being a comicbook nerd and movie nut myself, I've been in those lines.  As an employee, I've worked with the people in them.  Many of them come in costume.  An excuse to throw a party with their fellow nerds and movie fans, walking around  dressed like their favorite superhero.  Like a kid again.  None of them could've anticipated what was about to happen.  He came in costume.  Many of them thought it was a stunt for the movie.  I can't imagine how they felt when the madman revealed his true colors.  Their shared experience going from sheer joy to absolute horror in seconds when he opened fire.  It's a night they'll never forget.  For all the wrong reasons.  It absolutely breaks my heart.
